At the core of Pigment’s success is our implementation strategy, named the Canva methodology, a structured approach to implementation that ensures a smooth transition for all users, regardless of the complexity of their current processes and existing systems.

The Canva methodology: A phased approach to going live

For technology platforms, especially those with business-wide impact, implementation sets the tone for the rest of the life cycle. Financial planning software needs to be seamless and intuitive, and that’s exactly what the Canva methodology delivers. The process is divided into detailed phases, each designed to move clients from initial onboarding to full adoption with minimal friction.

The first phase of our approach is focused on training the project team. We promote continuous customer alignment with workshops throughout the implementation process, ensuring that teams not only learn how to use Pigment but also understand how it can be tailored to meet their specific business requirements. These workshops go beyond basic software training: focusing on hands-on collaboration, scenario planning, outcomes and best practices that enhance decision-making capabilities.

Our methodology is designed not just for success in the short term but also to set our customers up for independent, sustainable, long-term financial planning excellence. 

This approach also benefits Pigment. It gives us the opportunity to receive constructive feedback and understand what works well and what doesn’t, to then further improve both customer experience and the product itself. 

A great example of this was during the implementation of a Workforce Planning Application with a global leading payments network provider. They were faced with the challenge of having position management and financial plans in disparate systems and wanted a way to visualize what changes in an organization might look like and know their financial impact at the same time and in the same platform. 

Thanks to their feedback, we co-designed and developed the Organizational Charts visualization feature that exists in Pigment today to fulfill their vision. Now, users can outline org changes that are directly linked to their financial plans. Last but not least, kickstarting our partnerships with this collaborative approach helps foster a strong relationship between the customer and Pigment team and establish a good foundation for success.

During the ‘build’ phase of implementations, customers spend most of their time in training with their dedicated team and 20% of their time building in Pigment themselves. At this stage, we also involve our design experts to support customers in ensuring the UX is personalized and easy for all types of users to interpret - from analysts, contributors to C-suite. Finally, pre-go-live we take a strong approach to testing, ensuring all requirements are being fulfilled, using the Project Management Pigment Application to ensure full alignment across all teams and stakeholders.

As part of our striving for continuous improvement based on customer feedback, we consistently conduct Customer Feedback interviews. The analysis of over 100 interviews conducted so far surfaced three key themes: flexibility, user experience and innovation.

In particular,  customers appreciate Pigment’s ability to adapt to changes in plans within dynamic strategies, as this results in significant time saving that was previously spent on manually maintaining multiple spreadsheets. For many, Pigment has increased the rate and speed of their forecasting allowing them better visibility of outcomes for their business.

We’ve been praised for delivering an exceptional end-user experience, combining powerful connected planning capabilities with intuitive reporting and visualization features. Not only does this elevate the planning experience for finance teams, but it also makes it easier for anyone in the organization to access the platform and easily interpret data from visually appealing dashboards.
