Today marks the launch of general availability for Pigment AI, following a period of private preview with a selection of customers. We’re excited the day has finally come where you all get to enjoy what we’ve been working on and refining.
With Pigment AI, you can now:
Understand and interrogate your data
Rapidly visualize and make sense of your business data, even if you aren’t an analyst.
Get instant answers to questions about the platform and modeling
Enable more of your team by letting AI handle the questions FP&A, Ops and HR get asked every day. With Pigment AI, even non-technical users can onboard, navigate and ramp up, getting answers to their questions from Pigment documentation.

Development diary
The careful development process for Pigment AI has been guided by three key principles:
1. Provide an integrated experience
We wanted to avoid Pigment AI feeling like a bolt-on experience, so we’ve integrated AI into the platform at a deep level. Pigment AI leverages the core strengths of the platform, working across applications and use cases to reach insights and scenario assumptions made across the company.
That means, not only you can do things like analyze data in a widget on a dashboard to deep dive into more detail, like breaking down your data by SKU or geo; but you can also access KPIs and Metrics stored on other applications to get the full context of a scenario.
2. Use LLMs for what they are good at
Large language models (LLMs) are powerful tools but they are not magic. Pigment AI leverages LLMs for what they are good at: understanding user intent, interacting with users, categorizing text or writing summaries. Robust data analysis is a skill they aren’t as good at (for now) - that’s why we focused our efforts on creating proprietary models that bring value to this specific task.
To properly leverage LLMs on the tasks detailed above, we also had to provide the context they needed to interpret the nuance of user instructions and requests, and to match them with the correct levers to pull within the platform. We also spent a great deal of time on providing Pigment AI business planning knowledge and best practices, and worked closely with customers to ensure it behaves as it should for the tasks they complete every day.
Of course, the process of tweaking our models will never truly be over - we expect to keep refining for years to come.
3. Security and privacy above all else
Pigment AI is built to allow you to select the particular blocks and metrics you want it to be able to access - you’re in total control. Pigment AI is also fully integrated with permissions and access rights, meaning users using AI can only access what they are authorized to.
Most importantly, we do not and will never train our models using customer data.
Our next steps
The development process is not over - we are continuing to work directly with customers and partners to improve and add new features to Pigment AI.
After queries in natural language, we will be introducing automated “Insights”. These new agent-based analytical capabilities will guide users to discover new insights and patterns on their data, and prepare analytical reviews faster. For example, Pigment AI will be able draft a monthly Budget Variance Analysis based on your way of working.
We see Pigment AI changing the way customers across roles and use cases conduct planning: allowing more users into the process, accelerating the speed at which they work, and amplifying the best features of the existing Pigment platform.
Your next steps
