Pigment joins industry leaders to launch Current AI, a public-private partnership to advance the AI landscape and ensure AI technology improves lives across the globe

Pigment Co-CEO joins leaders from LinkedIn, Hugging Face, Mistral, and Instacart to support the new Foundation, which receives a $400M investment from the French government, AI Collaborative, and others.

Business planning platform Pigment today announced it has pledged support for a new global public interest AI Foundation, Current AI, launched today at the AI Action Summit in Paris. With an initial $400M investment, Current AI aims to reshape the existing AI landscape by developing and supporting large-scale initiatives that serve the public interest.

The support for Current AI comes at a critical time for Pigment, as it aims to revolutionize how organizations leverage data to better and more accurately make decisions through increased innovation and investment in its AI-native platform. In the past year, Pigment added several key AI features to its platform, including AI-powered report building, a documentation assistant and a dashboard finder for businesses to plan smarter and faster than ever before. Its first set of Agentic AI features are set to go live early this year.

Current AI is supported by a group of 11 leading industry figures who have signed an open letter in support of the foundation, including Pigment’s co-CEO and co-founder, Eléonore Crespo, Reid Hoffman (LinkedIn), Clément Delangue (Hugging Face), Arthur Mensch (Mistral), and Fidji Simo (Instacart), bringing expertise and insight to the foundation’s mission.

"We have extraordinary engineers and some of the world’s best AI training programs in France. This foundation will be critical to ensure that we are investing in innovation and programs that will foster a strong emphasis on mathematics, critical thinking, and research. Currently, we have structural barriers across Europe that hinder our ability to drive cutting-edge innovation. My hope for this foundation is that it helps us invest more strategically in the technology sector and break down these barriers, so that we can work together with other global leaders and bring the promise of AI to the forefront.”

Eléonore Crespo, co-CEO and co-founder, Pigment

In addition to funding and supporting public interest initiatives, Current AI will work to expand access to high-quality public and private datasets, invest in open-source tools and infrastructure to create a more transparent and secure AI ecosystem, and develop systems to assess and evaluate AI’s social and environmental impact. Key focus areas include healthcare, linguistic diversity, science, and issues such as trust and safety, and AI auditing.

"We have a window of opportunity to shape the course of artificial intelligence, the landscape is rapidly shifting. AI has the power to transform access to jobs, healthcare, and education, but only if we act now. Current AI will drive a shift towards open, people-first technologies. We’ve seen the harms of unchecked tech development and the opportunities AI can offer when it’s aligned with the public interest. By supporting innovation that benefits all, we can ensure AI serves the public good.”
